Spring Break - Virginia/DC Day #1

After spending a few days with Dustin and Alanna we drove over to Virgina to stay with Elayna and Mitch for a few days!

Monday afternoon we took the metro into DC. Riding the metro was one of the girls' favorite things from our trip. And I was reminded why I don't live in big cities!

Eliza really wanted to go to the Lincoln Memorial so that was our next stop.

Then stopped at the Natural History Museum.

Our favorite part was a butterfly exhibit they currently have. You walked through an enclosure that was 89 degrees but the butterflies flying around were amazing! One even landed on my shoulder. Before we left the enclosure we had to look all over ourselves to make sure we weren't leaving with a hitchhiking butterfly!

They were eating pineapple, cantaloupe, and bananas.

We couldn't hold them but for whatever reason they liked to land on these paintbrushes a lady had and then she let the girls hold the paintbrushes.

Then we headed back to Elayna's on the metro! Pretty fun afternoon!

Spring Break - Maryland

Friday, March 27, we started Spring Break a little early and flew out to Maryland. We stayed a few days with Dustin, Alanna, and family.

Saturday the weather was FREEZING but the girls were troopers and braved the cold to get out and see the Monocacy Battle Field near Dustin and Alanna's house.

As I looked at the not very big amount of warm clothes I brought the girls I was really hoping this would be our coldest day. Thankfully it just kept getting warmer from then on!

This house was Eliza's favorite part of the story...a young boy looked through the cracks of this house to watch the battle taking place on his property. She went to look for bullet holes in the house but couldn't find any.

Cooler weather doesn't keep kids away from a trampoline! They sure had fun jumping with their cousins!

Darran couldn't get over how static Talia's hair was!

Jarom played his violin for us...that's one talented musician!

Thanks Dustin and Alanna for letting us crash at your house! Our stay was too short but we had a great time. We love you all!

Chick day!

There's a store called Basin Grain and Feed near Darran's office. Talia often asks when we get to go to that "farm" again. The day finally came around...every Spring they have their Chick Day when you can go and buy chicks/ducks. They also have animals for the kids to pet.

And even though we will never purchase a chick we still have a good time. Yeah for baby animals and yeah for Spring!

We went ice skating with mom and dad back in December.

The girls did really well...I was very impressed. It only solidified Eliza's dream to be Elsa and live in an ice world and to some day do a triple axle.
